This project is made possible because of two matching visions: a charity who wants HK education to have real diversity and choice A school who wants her children to learn for life, and respect the needs of the learners. Only when we firmly believe, can we educate not for exam results This is a mind-shifting project. but for the whole child. HG2 is a start. By the time the project ends, we hope the school will be an exemplar for HK schools and the teachers will be equipped with a learning by doing mind and skill set, for the whole person development of the children. and be empowered to teach We hope to help more schools and teachers to learn about LBD, that they will adopt this mindset to start their own learning by doing programmes for more children, teachers and parents to benefit.
The 'Learning By Doing' Principles
The CHILD Principle:The child should be the centre of learning. No toleration should be given to any behavior that would intimidate and belittle a child that would cause him/her to be resistant and afraid of learning. Any such behavior will be recorded for follow up actions.
The AGREEMENT Principle: While members of HG2 and EDiversity each has their own network and connections to further the aims of learning by doing, neither should make any commitment that would affect the LBD programme without seeking the other side’s agreement.
The SCOPE Principle: As stipulated in Conditions of Grant, Jockey Club Charities Trust’s donation “shall be used exclusively for the Trust-approved project scope”. As such, anything outside of the scope will need to be agreed with the team leaders, or done solely on a voluntary basis by the LBD members.
The PROCEDURE Principle: For every task involving more than one person, the parties involved should adhere to a decision and operation procedure (DeOps) to ensure non-repetition of work, which means efficiency, less work for all, trust building and empowerment of all levels.
The ALL Principle: Everyone who will offer help to students in this school needs to know about the project, and the major principles behind it.
